This is the former Thatcham community that has now been expanded to cover the semi-rural unitary authority area of West Berkshire. This includes the towns of Newbury, Thatcham, Hungerford, Pangbourne and Lambourn along with a number of smaller villages.
We want to show that small towns and villages can be Smart Cities too!
There is evidence that Thatcham and surrounding areas have been occupied since prehistoric times, leading to it being listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the strongest claim to being the oldest continuously inhabited place in Britain. We want to continue this pioneering spirit and bring the area into the 21st Century by developing IoT solutions for our modern day problems.
We are also one of the few communities with hands-on experience using TTN via satellite. Our creator has been using LoRaWAN and TTN since 2015 and has gained a lot of experience developing sensor devices for a wide range of use-case.
