The Things Conference is back and opens again tomorrow Thurs 22nd…LIVE and Online!
This thread is intended as an informal drop point for any interesting news, stories, facts and hopefully LOTS OF PICTURES, PLEASE! to share with the community.
Something to say about a Key Note? Have a checking /clarifying question? Want to provide feedback? Keen to help update those attending live or virtually… please post away…
My original plan was to be there as in AMS 2020, volunteering again as last time, but matters got tight wrt personal and biz schedules etc. over last few weeks and last straw was when I finally looked to commit last week and discovered many of the people from the continent who attended The Queen’s funeral on Monday deciding to return (via Amsterdam, Brussels or wherever) home the same day that I would be looking to head out to Conf - killing availability for train/plane at sensible times - not requiring me to head over early or at stupid o’clock to get in in time for the Volunteers pre-meet or to help with set up Wed pm and without an extra hotel night, and who’s additional travel demand helped drive up ticket prices by 20%+ to as much as 80%+ in just a couple of days! Ouch! (Same hotel as last time was also asking ~double from Jan/Feb 2020!).
WIll be attending ‘online’ now… hopefully F2F next time again
One interesting snippet just spotted in Johan’s section of the keynote…“The Normalizer”… no not the name of a new Hollywood movie but rather a software mechanism to place after device payload decoding to ‘normalize’ and standardize device data from disparate devices and formats into one standard payload - makes database population and follow on data analytics much simpler I’m sure… even when developers are using a vast range of devices and variable firmware and payload solutions… one to watch
Just seen a new product which will help makers struggling with placing small passive SMD’s - new ST IPD (Integrated Passive Device) serving the Balun/Ant matching for a STM32WL, saving time effort and board area…
No indication on cost yet but looks like Q4 prduction…maybe STM32WL’s available to buy by then also?
Friend of TTN @telkamp just confirmed @Johan 's earlier announcement that 1 of the existing 3 Lacuna Space Satellites will be made available for developer use - packet broker integration/exchange to TTN (TTS(CE)?
Expectation is developer kit availability will ramp from around November timeframe…just in time for me to put one on my Father Christmas wish list for Forum support and tech eval/show and tell
Pictures of stands taken as I whizzed round mid-Friday afternoon before leaving for Eurostar - not meant to be artistic, but puts a picture to this floor plan:
