The only odd thing is that the channel is different

Are they using the same configurations? If not:

The channel number is based on the configuration. The frequencies defined in the configuration block is matched. So any gateway using a configuration with frequencies defined in a different order will report a different channel.

If you ever did see packets in the gateway’s Traffic page in TTN Console, then maybe the following applies:

The connected indicator, last seen and received/transmitted messages in the console are indeed unreliable. They may indicate that a gateway is offline, while it is in fact online. This is a known issue that will not be fixed.
