So, while waiting for your Kickstarter to start, and the hardware being developed, and all the testing that is ongoing.
I am not located in Amsterdam (Amersfoort NL instead).
So would that mean my current best strategy is to purchase a Kerlink gateway, configure that and turn it on. That way to trigger interest and be ready when the network, software and Kickstarter really start working?
@mbsnl, I’m also in Amersfoort and involved with the Meet-je-stad project ( http://www.meetjestad.nl ). We’re planning to measure environmental data throughout Amersfoort at some point. We’re currently doing some initial testing with XBee, but want to switch to LoRa later this year, so we will likely be kicking up one or two gateways too (We pre-ordered this one, since it looks nice: http://www.hoperf.nl/LORANK-8). Perhaps we should get together and join forces sometime soon?
Edit: I am planning to go to the TTN hackerspace tomorrow afternoon. Perhaps I’ll see you there?
If you are a DIY guy i would advise to buy components and make your own gateway. If not, or you want to spend a lot of money or mount a gateway outside the Kerlink is an option. A lot cheaper is the Lorank 8 from Ideetron, that one is available in a few weeks, and has professional specs. The price is comparable with buying the components yourself. The Kickstarter is of course also very nice, but it may take quite some time before you have anything tangible. In our wiki http://thethingsnetwork.org/wiki/Hardware/OverviewGateways you can see all options listed (title are clickable).
