Kerlink Wirnet iStation firmware upgrade

Hey all,
I have gotten an Wirnet iStation to play around with LoraWAN and The Things Network.

Apparently it’s running firmware 2.3.2, which is ancient. I have managed to have it send data to TTN by configuring the Semtech UDP Packet Forwarder. Which will be depreciated some day.

I have been looking into upgrading the firmware, but it appears there are some caveats. There seems to be a specific upgrade path on which I first need to go to version 3.x. But of course that firmware is locked behind some login and their support isn’t answering my emails.

Does anyone have more information or firmware available to at least upgrade it to version 3.x so I can use the provisioning script at GitHub - TheThingsNetwork/kerlink-wirnet-firmware: Firmware and tools used to connect Kerlink Wirnet gateways to The Things Network Stack for LoRaWAN ?

I’d love to upgrade this unit and save it from the trash and stay a valuable member of TTN :smiley:

For all that run into the same issue I had, you can basically download the 5.11 firmware (liveburner version) and upload that via the web interface. This will flash the gateway to the latest firmware.

You can then install the lora station software from here: wiki:lora:basic_station_forwarder [Wirnet™ i-series]

And then configure your gateway via wiki:lora:basic_station_forwarder [Wirnet™ i-series]
