External Antenna options for 915MHz Gateways (Australia)

Hi all,

We’re getting ready in Adelaide, SA to get the first gateway(s) up and running and I was wondering if there are any suggestions / recommendatations for external antennas (for 915MHz spectrum).

@maj what Antenna’s are you guys using in SYD ?

Should be able to be sourced in Australia - but I can get the details. Happy to update the WIKI if I can work out how to do this (getting a “delete this page” option, but no edit page ?)

Thanks in advance,
Leo

Hi Leo. I use Laird FG9023 antennas.
I sell them here, with mount - http://meshed.com.au/product/laird-fg9023-external-lorawan-antenna/

Thanks Andrew !

Will be in touch

Cheers,
Leo

Sorry to drag up this old thread. I am looking to replace the out of the box antenna that came with Laird LG191 gateway and run an external one out from the roof space in a domestic house. I was hoping to cover a decent section of west Perth.

What is the experience with the Laird FG9023 external antenna?
What sort of range are you guys getting in Sydney @Maj ?
or (with a similar topography to Perth) Adelaide @leogaggl ?

Old thread indeed!
I like the FG9023s. I have a few installed.

Check out https://ttnmapper.org/ for an idea of range we’re seeing. But it can be quite variable depending on obstructions, terrain, noise floor and other factors. For instance, you can reach 20+ km to the Barangaroo gateway in Sydney, but if you’re in the city streets at ground level you may not get 500m.
