from one moment to the next, the dragino lps8 reported a CRC fail for every packet received and therefore did not forward them. The CRC sum is created automatically by the rfm95 transceiver and cannot be influenced by the user. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas as to where the problem might lie? The transmission parameters and the location were not changed.

This is often caused by picking up traffic belonging to other systems or even radio noise fooling the preamble detector.
Are these malformed packets even time correlated to transmissions of a node? You can try power cycling the gateway to preclude the baseband chip being in an odd state, and you can make sure the gateway is at least 10 meters from any node to prevent overload.
But most likely, especially if the node is correctly received by any other gateway, this is just random radio chatter having nothing to do with your node, and being quite correctly rejected as the noise that it is.
