I was referring to the OP’s OP and the rationale for buying a “close but no cigar” frequency.
Chip shortages should not have inspired this situation - the chips for a 868 vs a 915 HAT are the same - it’s the passives that make the difference.
Sure, but chip limitations are messing up manufacturing generally. If a company can only get so many chips, they have to guess how to allocate them between builds for the two/three bands, and if they guess wrong what the relative demands will be that could easily result in only having inventory left for one band - vs in normal times they could do a another production run to compensate for whatever was selling faster.
