As it seems my home location is unlikely to be reliably served by any of the local gateways I would have to do this at a laptop in an internet-enabled cafe in town. I’ll hopefully get a chance to do this tomorrow. Please note that I have already extensively tested the default sketch in town without success.

Happy to report success with device registration, connection and data delivery on the Uno when within coverage. However the issue of why the default sketch failed to work under the same circumstances remains unresolved. We can say now that it’s due to either some bug upstream of the local gateways within TTN’s system or within the code of the secret default sketch. It would be good to see this fixed so that other newby users don’t have to go round the same loops as me.

I suspect it has to do with other network problems which TTN is experiencing last days.
