On May 17th 2017, The University of Wollongong launches its Digital Living Lab in Wollongong, in collaboration with Meshed, Wollongong City Council and Sydney Water. This LoRaWAN network will serve nearly a quarter of million residents and thousands of businesses with initial applications ranging from wheelchair accessibility or independent ageing to stormwater monitoring and safety appraisal. Many more people-centric applications will follow thanks to the infinite pool of talented start-ups provided by UOW's iAccelerate Centre. UOW's SMART Infrastructure Facility has also created an Open IoT Hub where researchers, residents, entrepreneurs and students are able to share ideas, submit problems and develop solutions together.
