We began in 2016 to build a network for our island because we believed the Internet of Things should benefit everyone.
We wanted you to be able to participate, which is why we worked hard to cover our island in a free and open network which anyone can use.
Building the network enabled people to create technical solutions which solved problems for the benefit of our whole island community. We grew to cover most of the major population centres on the island and exchanged LoRaWAN packets with users in Ireland and the UK too.
The Isle of Man Government chose to invest with a commercial company to explore LoRaWAN and IoT instead.
The last volunteer owned Things Network gateway was closed down in March 2024.
