My goal is to try build up the The Thing Network within Colorado Springs by building up a group of like minded individuals who love technology and want to learn more about it. By networking with school districts, technology companies, and possibly even the local city government maybe we can slowly make Colorado Springs a "smart city" alleviate crime, provide weather updates (extreme weather events), monitor air pollution, more accurate traffic data, etc. Aside from the buzzwords, its fun to just tinker and learn.

Initial Misson: Establish a lora gateway on top of Pikes Peak... At an elevation of 14,114ft (4,302m) above sea level this would be the perfect placement of a gateway that is visible "line of site" nearly 70 miles (112km) or more.

Colorado Springs elevation sits at just under 6000ft (1,828m) above sea level to just above 7000ft (2133m) above sea level depending where you live in the city.

Eventually I would love to establish more gateways around the city on elevation high points to make connectivity more robust.
