We are collaborating with community, schools, industries, and farmers to construct Civic IoT infrastructure, owned and operated by the people for the people. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of IoT technologies to; improve the lives of citizens, create a sustainable synergy between people and the environment, and to give our local industries the best chance to flourish in a revolutionary age of new technologies.
Our plan is to start with a few core gateways and gradually build up a support community to fill in the missing areas of telecommunications infrastructure.
The Cassowary Coast Region is a local government area in the Far North Queensland region of Queensland, Australia, south of Cairns and centred on the towns of Innisfail, Cardwell and Tully.
Ultimately we are building a regional network of support so people can reliably operate their own piece of a shared alternative network as an alternative to largely non-existent Telco networks.

Our members come from a region known as the Far North Queensland - Cook, Mareeba, Etheridge, Tablelands, Croydon, Hinchinbrook, Cassowary Coast, Yarrabah, Cairns, Douglas, Wujal Wujal, and Hope Vale. We all have an interest in realizing the full potential of new technologies to reduce the barriers that our communities face; the tyranny of distance, lack of telecommunications infrastructure, lack of external interest to our issues, low relative productivity, and lack of connectivity.
Some of these members cover several regions and support communities and industries spanning the regions.
Our community acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, and strives to bring the benefit of these technologies to connect us all to their sacred environment.
