Let's build an open, free and community-owned IoT data network for Broxted! Smart is not just for cities! We who live in the countryside want a network like this too, and we need not be dependent on the large, traditional telecommunication companies. If you would like to be involved, join us and host a gateway, or help us roll out the network, or develop new connected devices and applications. We would be very happy to collaborate with other enthusiasts in Essex, the Home Counties and the East of England.

My current plan is to: (1) set up a gateway at home (I am still selecting and ordering the hardware); (2) prototype some nodes to prove that gateway works (if you would like to help with this, I would be very grateful; for example - a farmer who wants to monitor crops and soil condition, and to keep track of valuable machinery, or someone who needs warning of flooding by a stream or river); (3) link the gateway into TTN's network; (4) publicise the gateway and talk to schools, farms, businesses and community groups about useful projects. (5) recruit other enthusiasts in the locality.
